Company History

When Beers + Hoffman Architecture began in 1982, there were four architects listed in the local telephone book. These days, there are 40-some. Even though the competition has increased, the Lancaster-based firm has changed with the times while remaining true to the core values instilled by founder Bob Beers, who retired in 2014, and Bob Hoffman, who currently leads the Lebanon office.

“Integrity and teamwork are key,” said principal Peter Kerekgyarto. “Those values have really allowed us to focus on listening to what clients want and need. We start with a blank paper rather than coming in with preconceived notions. It’s about them and their project.”

The firm began with a focus on designing churches and senior living communities, but as time went on, its projects grew more diverse. A major re-branding effort highlighted the entire spectrum of work it does includes – from traditional through contemporary, commercial, health care, hospitality, retail, public and private schools, colleges and libraries, along with LEED-certified sustainable projects. In addition to providing architectural design services such as facility and feasibility studies, master planning, building-code analysis, construction drawings, and 3-D renderings, animations, and virtual reality, the firm also offers full-service interior design, made possible by its 2016 acquisition of Diversified Design. Recent years have seen the acquisition of new offices in both Lebanon and Lancaster, as well as a transition to a new generation of leadership.

Partner Scott Shonk believes the longevity of the company’s core team gives the firm a family atmosphere: “Some of us have been here 25 or more years, and that gives us strength.”
